Nicole Beaumont : (613) 237 7031  -  www.nicoleart.ca  -  info@nicoleart.ca

“I simply enjoy the life of being an artist.  It is magical to begin from nothing and end up creating an artwork that is a signature of yourself!”

Nicole Beaumont was born in Guelph, Ontario and has resided in the Canada's national Capital, Ottawa Ontario since 2000. Brought back to the art brush in 2006, Nicole depicts simple yet detailed scenes that gently soothe the spirit while creating an interaction between the subject and the viewer. Painting with acrylic on canvas or wood frames and using different acrylic mediums to foster texture and borders are the primary methods used in her collection.

Ms. Beaumont's mixed media painting Emotions was her first work that showed in a group exhibit, 'Crazed' in 1996 at the Cambridge Gallery Library in Ontario. This led Nicole to pursue the arts and enroll in the cooperative arts program. She apprenticed at The Looking Glass Studio (1997-2000) and specialized in traditional leaded, copperfoil and painting techniques of stained-glass and the design and assemblage in fused-glass ornaments and picture frames. Acceptance and a grant from the Summer Company Program in 2002 helped develop her business 'Wired About Glass', which specialized in whimsical wired suncatchers and custom stained-glass windows. These glass arts were sold at Ottawa's Byward Market and local craft shows. From 2003 to 2007, Nicole managed Chez Glass Lass, a retail glass gallery that specialized in fused-glass dinnerware. Nicole pursued her involvement in stained-glass, however she found herself painting for a friend who needed some original artwork (SimBrown and Meditation Tree) for his walls. "I found that painting grants me a technical freedom that cannot be found in stained-glass. Nevertheless, I can use the aesthetic features and techniques I have acquired while working in glass: an effect that I have been colorfully exploring. I am also influenced by Native philosophy, textile prints and wood carvings."

Nicole Beaumont has completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at Carleton University (2000-2006) and dedicated much of her attention to the field of Mental Illness and Mental Health. Within the last year, Nicole has advocated, facilitated and has helped manage fundraising projects with Youth Net/Réseau Ado at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) and Parents Lifelines of Eastern Ontario (PLEO). Nicole has volunteered for the YM/YWCA's child art therapy program and currently is a Pens and Paints facilitator at YN/RA’s youth art initiative.
